Parent Coaching
Your day is busy. Between play dates, laundry, errands, and meal prep, little time remains for you to create opportunities to teach your child necessary developmental skills.
What is it?
Parent coaching involves personalized, one-on-one sessions with a skilled speech language pathologist. Depending on your location and preference, we can provide them in your home or on a virtual call. We will give you a plan and referrals if necessary.
What does it look like?
These sessions provide you with the strategies and tools you need to enhance your child’s communication and/or feeding skills and ensure they don’t get behind in critical areas of development. You will be provided with ways to increase your child’s speech and language development using items already in your home and during activities that are already part of your routine.
Coaching vs speech therapy
Speech therapy includes direct services to diagnose and treat impairments in the areas of expressive language, receptive language, pragmatic language, articulation/speech sound disorders, feeding disorders, vocal disorders, fluency disorders, and communication disorders. Sessions are typically 1-2 times a week and continue until the area(s) of delay have been remediated
Parent coaching includes educating the parent and/or caregiver in their home and/or through virtual services to help provide you with the strategies and tools you need to enhance your child’s communication and/or feeding skills and ensure they don’t get behind in critical areas of development. Parent coaching is available to assist families even when a delay is not present.
